Gumdrop Orthodontic 2 pack pacifier, 0-6 month. Style used in some Canadian hospitals for newborn babies.
A pacifier is a rubber, plastic or silicone substitute for an infant to suckle upon between feedings to quiet its distress by satisfying the need to suck when it does not need to eat. As with some newborns it may take a while for baby to adjust to the soother because of size, texture or taste until sucking is able to maintain in his or her mouth. Nursing Moms gratefully appreciate a pacifier for between feeding.
Pacifiers normally have three parts, an elongated teat, a mouth shield, and a handle. The mouth shield is large enough to prevent the child from attempting to take the pacifier into its mouth, and so forecloses the danger that the child will swallow then choke on it.
